In the Philippines, a food blogger died after eating a poisonous crab

In the Philippines, the desire to make “content” for social networks ended in a severe tragedy. A 51-year-old food blogger, Emma Amit, consumed a poisonous “devil crab” and died within two days. The incident is reported by the “New York Post”.
According to information, the blogger, together with friends, collected seafood and various creatures near the city of Puerto Princesa on Palawan Island. Then, for a video, she tasted various flavors: a crab, a sea slug cooked in coconut milk, and other sea creatures were filmed.
However, the next day the woman began to feel sharply worse. As the effect of the poisonous toxins intensified, signs of seizures were observed while she was being taken to a clinic. When her condition worsened, she was hospitalized. It was also noted that while she was unconscious, her lips took on a bluish color.
Doctors used all possibilities to save her, but it did not produce a result. The woman died two days after consuming the poisonous crab.
After the incident, the head of the local village of Luzviminda, Laddi Gemang, sent those responsible for an inspection to the deceased woman’s home. There, among the waste, shells of a brightly colored “devil crab” were found.
Specialists emphasize that this species, found in the Indo-Pacific region, may contain strong neurotoxins — saxitoxin and tetrodotoxin. These poisons are also found in pufferfish, and in some cases there is a possibility that they can lead to death within just a few hours.
Local officials are once again warning the population: consuming unknown or poisonous sea creatures is extremely dangerous for life. Especially experiments of “let’s see” and chasing after “content” can sometimes turn into a road from which one does not return.
