Bloggers who insulted Kazakh women were sentenced to 15 days in prison

During a live broadcast in Almaty, two Russian bloggers used insulting words about Kazakhstani women and were placed under administrative arrest for 15 days. The incident caused sharp public outrage, and a phrase said “for content” turned into a major scandal.
According to the information of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Kazakhstan, measures were taken under “petty hooliganism” regarding this case. At the same time, investigative actions are also being carried out under Article 174 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan — on signs of inciting interethnic hatred or enmity.
According to local media, it concerns Rinat Pashaev and Anar Abdullaev. Later they admitted their mistake and apologized to the public. However, the court had already reached a decision: the specialized administrative court of Almaty sentenced them to 15 days of arrest.
The case reminded once again: not every word said in front of a camera remains “just a joke”. Especially if it touches the dignity of others.
