Thomas Tuchel, who has shown good results with the England national team, has decided on his future. The German specialist has reached a new agreement with the management and signed a contract that will be valid until 2028. This decision is an important point for both the “Three Lions” and the coach himself: now the team can build plans with full concentration, without worrying about “what will happen tomorrow?”
Tuchel's previous contract was supposed to expire after the World Cup. Therefore, it was almost certain that clubs would show interest in him and contact him by the summer - and such a fuss cannot but affect the work of the national team. The English leadership preferred to eliminate these “distractions” in advance and chose to extend the contract until the next Euro 2028 tournament.
Under the 52-year-old specialist, England recorded a 100 percent record in the World Cup qualifying round: winning all matches and taking first place in the group. These figures have strengthened confidence within the team and somewhat alleviated external pressure - because where there is a result, there is less controversy, this is an unwritten rule of football.
The national team now faces the next tests: friendlies against Uruguay and Japan. Although such matches are usually considered “formal”, in practice they are very valuable for the coach: these are the games that are needed to test new options, further sharpen the style of play, and increase competition in certain positions.
The biggest strategic goal is already in sight: England will host the 2028 European Championship together with Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland. So, there is both hosting pressure and high expectations. That is why the management decided to make serious preparations for this tournament and decided on the coach issue early.
The conclusion is the same: England is choosing a long-term project, not a “short-term effect”. For Tuchel, this is a credit to trust. Now it is time on the field: to maintain the results, to put the team in a uniform before the big tournament and, most importantly, to be in top form at the right time. There is no other way out before the host Euro.
