The introduction of a Russian language exam for labor migrants has brought an additional 2.5 billion rubles (about $30.4 million) to the Russian budget. This was announced by Vladimir Vasiliev, head of the United Russia faction in the State Duma.
According to Vasiliev, these funds were previously embezzled through corruption, but now they have been redirected to the state budget.
In October 2024, the State Duma adopted a law that only state bodies can conduct Russian language exams for migrants. According to State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, this measure is necessary to sharply reduce the risk of fraud and corruption.
Then, in November, the Russian Ministry of Education and Science proposed introducing a single price system for exams.
In December, the government approved the single prices for exams. In particular:
- The price of the exam in the Russian language, Russian history and the basics of legislation for obtaining Russian citizenship has been set at 2.95 thousand rubles each.
- The price of the comprehensive exam (Russian language, history and legislation) for obtaining a temporary residence permit or residence permit has been set at 5.9 thousand rubles.
- The price of the comprehensive exam for obtaining a work permit or patent has been set at 3.8 thousand rubles.
Thus, Russia ensures that the funds collected from migrants go to the state budget in an open and transparent manner. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
