At the port of Baltiysk in the Kaliningrad region, workers discovered an unexpected guest — a living cat. The most interesting part is that this “traveler” accidentally set off from the Leningrad region inside a freight container and, after a 7-day journey, ended up on the shore of the Baltic Sea, writes Peopletalk.
According to reports, the cat sneaked into the container during loading operations at the Ust-Luga port and got trapped when the doors were closed. The container was transported by ship to the port of Baltiysk, where port workers discovered the animal. The cat had survived about a week with limited food, water, and air — a feat that amazed specialists with its resilience and survival instincts.
The workers named the cat "Mafik". It is currently being cared for by one of the port employees. It was noted that if the rightful owner appears, the pet will be returned. For now, Mafik is safe, receiving proper care, and recovering.
Interestingly, such incidents are not rare around the world. In the US, a cat helped its owner notice a winning lottery ticket, while the President of Indonesia’s cat even has its own security detail. Mafik has now earned his own fame with his accidental travel adventure.
