A young man living in Germany, Leon Otremba, felt humiliated for many years due to his short height. His self-esteem was low, and his life passed in a depressed mood. His height of 171 centimeters prevented him from feeling free in life. He often compared himself to others and was forced to live with the thought, “I’m a short guy.”
According to the Metropoles publication, it was this internal dissatisfaction and psychological struggle that pushed Leon to take a radical step — he agreed to undergo surgery to artificially lengthen his legs. This process lasted two years, and as a result, his height increased by 24 centimeters, now reaching 195 centimeters.
The first surgery was performed in 2023. Doctors used special metal rods and external devices to lengthen Leon’s femur bones by 10 centimeters by stretching them 1 millimeter per day. He regularly attended medical check-ups to prevent the risk of infection.
The second, more complex operation was performed in early 2025. This time, his shin bones were lengthened with the help of an internal mechanism — a click system. According to Leon, the second phase was less painful, but recovery took much longer. He even had to learn to walk again.

Yes, the result is visible — the young man achieved his goal. But these actions did not bring him relief or happiness; instead, they brought severe physical pain and constant discomfort. He says that persistent pain remains in his body and negatively affects his daily life.
Orthopedic doctors also issue serious warnings about such procedures. For example, a specialist named Luciano Miller emphasizes that such operations should only be performed for necessary medical conditions, such as congenital injuries or skeletal abnormalities. According to him, artificial interference disrupts the body's biomechanical balance, causes negative changes in muscle tissues, and can lead to serious complications.
That’s why experts advise people to think carefully before deciding to fix physical imperfections through artificial means. Leon’s story once again proves that even if a person seeks happiness through change, going against nature comes with a price. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
