US cancels Colombian president's visa

The US has canceled the visa of Colombian President Gustavo Petro. This followed Petro urging US soldiers not to obey Donald Trump’s orders. The State Department called his words “dangerous and provocative.”

Petro was in the US for the UN General Assembly and demanded an investigation into US strikes on drug-carrying ships in the Caribbean.

In his speech, Petro called on US soldiers not to point weapons at people and to “disobey Trump’s orders.” The US criticized his words as encouraging disobedience and violence.

Petro’s relations with the US have cooled in recent months. The Colombian president criticized US anti-drug actions in his UN speech.
