US President Donald Trump has announced that Nvidia's most advanced artificial intelligence chips will not be supplied to China or other countries. These products will be presented to the American market first.
The discussion concerns chips belonging to Nvidia's Blackwell series. These graphic processors are mainly intended for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing tasks.
At the same time, Trump expressed his willingness to consider supplying Blackwell chips with lower power to China. He emphasized that collaboration with Nvidia would be permitted for Beijing.
However, this initiative was criticized in US political circles. Some politicians expressed concerns that supplying such chips to China could enhance Beijing's military capabilities and accelerate artificial intelligence development.
According to Reuters, in July the Trump administration presented a new plan for artificial intelligence development. This plan aims to maintain the US’s lead over China in critical technologies by loosening environmental regulations and expanding exports of this technology to allies.
