The Nasaf vs. Al Wahda match, part of the 4th round of the Elite Asian Champions League, was watched with great interest in Qarshi. At the end of the match, the UAE representative won with a score of 2:1. At the post-match press conference, Favor Ogbu, head coach of "Al Wahda" and recognized as the best player of the match, answered journalists' questions, reports championat.asia.
"Today's victory wasn't easy"
At the beginning of his speech, the coach emphasized that team discipline and team spirit determined the result:
"The game was as difficult as we expected, but I'm satisfied with the result. Today's score is fair for some, not for others - this is the natural law of football. We didn't lose confidence even in the 0:1 loss.
In the second half, the players showed a very strong character. Acting accurately in two standard situations, we turned the result in our favor. Some of our leading players couldn't take the field for various reasons, but they were worthily replaced by the reserves. This is an expression of healthy competition and mental stability in our team."
"Nasaf wasn't lucky"
The coach also spoke positively about the opponent:
"Nasaf is a well-organized team. They also had several chances to score, but luck wasn't on their side. Football is like this: sometimes you have a day, sometimes not. Today, luck was on our side - even our usually goalless player scored. This itself is the result of collective action and labor."
Favor Ogbu: "Today's goal is the result of hard work"
Favor Ogbu, who was named the best player of the match, briefly shared his thoughts:
"I'm glad I came to Karshi, I really liked the atmosphere of the fans and the game. My goal today cannot be called a coincidence, it is the result of continuous work."
"What did you say during the break?"
The coach was asked how he had influenced the team before the second half:
"During the break, I told the players: 'We are playing well, but there are no results. We're passing the ball, but we're missing a shot." In football, goals change the score, not passes. I simply gave them direction - strike, take a risk. Sometimes a footballer doesn't hear it, and sometimes - hears it. They heard it today."
"What if there was a draw?"
The coach responded:
"We always play for victory. One point doesn't lead the team forward, only three points bring it closer to the goal. Therefore, I urge the players to strive for results. Thanks to today's work, we achieved success, and it wasn't easy."
"Is it possible to reach the final?"
The final question concerned the future goals of Al Wahda:
"Of course, we have such a dream. It's not easy to reach the final, but we are on the right track. In this competition, every opponent is strong, every game is a test. We will try to successfully complete the first stage and move forward step by step in the subsequent stages. No victory is a coincidence - it is the fruit of discipline and confidence."
Thus, the "Al Wahda" team scored 10 points thanks to the victory after the important match in Karshi and became the leader in the Western region. "Nasaf," however, will simply skip the unsuccessful game and begin preparations for the next rounds.
