Russia will recognize driver’s licenses only from countries where Russian is an official language. This was announced by Vyacheslav Volodin, Speaker of the State Duma of Russia.
He emphasized that citizens from countries where the Russian language is not recognized as an official language must pass an exam in order to obtain a driver’s license in Russia. "Knowledge of the Russian language is the main requirement for recognizing foreign driver’s licenses," said Volodin.
In addition, according to Russia’s traffic regulations, foreign licenses that do not comply with Russia’s international agreements will only be valid if they are accompanied by a notarized Russian translation or if all inscriptions on the license are directly in Russian. It is worth noting that driver’s licenses issued in Uzbekistan are translated into both Russian and English.
