Uzbekistan Football Cup format changed

The Uzbekistan Professional Football League announced an updated procedure for holding the country’s cup competition. The decision was made taking into account Uzbekistan’s national team plans related to the 2026 World Cup, as well as training camps scheduled for May. This was reported by podrobno.uz. reports .
Under the new format, tournament participants will be divided into several “pots.” The first pot will include clubs that finished 1st–8th in last season’s Super League. The second pot will consist of teams that ended the season in 9th–15th place. Pro League and First League clubs will be placed in the lower pots.
The PFL also noted that additional difficulties may arise for teams in the first pot. Due to the national team camp in May and preparations for the 2026 World Cup, players from these clubs are likely to be called up, which could affect the outcomes of cup matches.
In addition, the Uzbekistan Cup playoff stage— the semifinals and the final— will be held in a centralized format. This will allow clubs to know the exact date and venue of the decisive matches in advance.
According to the PFL, the changes are aimed at organizing the competition more efficiently, taking into account the international calendar and the interests of the national team.
