Fire in Hong Kong Leaves 44 Dead
A massive fire at the Wang Fu Court residential complex in Hong Kong has claimed the lives of at least 44 people. This incident has been described as one of the deadliest fires in the region in recent decades.

A total of 279 individuals have been reported missing. Among those who lost their lives was a firefighter.

Police have arrested three men on suspicion of manslaughter due to negligence in connection with this incident. The complex, built in 1983, was undergoing renovations at the time and was fully surrounded by traditional bamboo scaffolding.

The city authorities had previously planned to replace flammable bamboo materials with safer steel structures. Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
