Xabi Alonso on His Team’s El Clasico Defeat

What did Xabi Alonso say about his team’s El Clasico defeat?

Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso shared his impressions after the El Clasico defeat. He said the match was very intense, competitive, and entertaining for the fans. The team stayed composed in many phases and tried to make the most of its chances.

"In terms of consistency, it was a very intense, competitive, and exciting game. At the end we had two very good chances and came very close to equalising. But the result wasn’t what we expected; we congratulate Barcelona on today’s win," Alonso said.

As Alonso noted, the final 15 minutes were among the most decisive periods of the match, with a lot happening. Real Madrid were proactive in controlling the ball, and the two clearest chances fell to them. They had to concede the first goal, but the team showed character and maintained its mental edge throughout the game.

According to the head coach, going into the break at 2–2 allowed the team to compete on equal terms in the second half. The second period was highly competitive, and Real pushed to level the score, but couldn’t make it happen.

Concluding his remarks, Alonso stressed that the club must turn the page as quickly as possible, look ahead, recover the players, and rebuild the fighting spirit. In his view, the team should learn from this experience and keep battling for strong results in the upcoming matches.
