The world's largest plane crash of 2025: 418 deaths

In 2025, a total of 418 people died in civil aviation accidents. This was reported based on data from the USA's Aviation Safety Network portal, analyzed by the German Aviation Industry Union.
According to statistics, 352 of the deceased were passengers, 33 were crew members, and 33 were people on the ground. Although this indicator has increased compared to 2024, it is significantly lower than 50 years ago. If in the 1970s the probability of a plane crash was 1 in 264 thousand, now it is almost 1 in 1.5 million.
The largest plane crash of this year was the crash of a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner belonging to Air India in the city of Ahmedabad.
With increased safety in the aviation sector, with the help of efficient technologies and advanced systems, the likelihood of plane crashes has significantly decreased. Also, the number of passengers is increasing year by year, and by 2025 this figure will reach 4.7 billion people per year.
