Migration Checks for Uzbeks Tightened in the US

Uzbekistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has warned citizens living in the United States about a significant increase in migration checks. These inspections reportedly focus on the documentation of truck drivers, their level of English proficiency, and the presence of work permits.
The tightening of controls is part of Washington's strategy to combat illegal immigration and is linked to concerns about terrorism. Earlier, U.S. authorities arrested Akhror Bozorov, who was wanted in Uzbekistan for promoting jihad.
He was apprehended in Kansas and was found to possess a U.S. commercial driver’s license and a work permit. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged Uzbek citizens to ensure that all their documents and migration statuses are in full compliance with the law.
“In suspicious or complex situations, immediately contact Uzbekistan's diplomatic missions and consular offices in the United States,” the ministry's statement reads.
