Zelenskiy Appoints Uzbek Native Umerov as Negotiator

Zelensky appoints Uzbek-born Umerov as chief negotiator
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security Council, as the head of Ukraine's delegation for peace negotiations. This delegation will conduct talks with the United States, Ukraine's international partners, and Russian representatives.

According to official reports, the primary goal of the negotiations is to achieve "a fair and sustainable peace." The updated delegation includes representatives from the country's key state institutions.

Previously, the negotiation group was led by the head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak. A special decree issued by Zelensky rescinded Yermak's authority, with reports stating that Yermak chose to join the combat forces voluntarily.

Umerov’s responsibilities are reported to have been expanded. Over the past few months, he has become one of the key representatives of Ukrainian leadership in international relations.

Rustem Umerov was born in the city of Bulungur, Samarkand region.
