James Cameron criticized artificial intelligence
On December 1, 2025, CBS News reported that renowned director James Cameron described the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in the film industry as alarming. According to him, creating an actor or their performance through text-based prompts is completely at odds with the creative process.

“If I continue making films at the age of 87, with an oxygen tube up my nose, and if I’m lucky, I want to keep doing things I haven’t learned yet,” said Cameron. He emphasized that he values his performance capture method over artificial intelligence.

He described this method as a “celebration of the actor and the director.” For instance, in his “Avatar” films, digital graphics were only used to accurately reflect the work of live actors.

Cameron’s upcoming film, “Avatar: The Fire and Ash,” is set to hit the big screens next month. The director, who has mastered sophisticated visual effects techniques, admitted to always feeling nervous before each premiere.
