Italian Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said it could be problematic for Italy to join the “Board of Peace” set up on the initiative of U.S. President Donald Trump. He said this at an event in Rome.
According to the minister, after reading news about Trump’s initiative, it is clear that there are some problems with Italy’s participation. In particular, it is said that joining this group may violate the country’s constitution.
Under Trump’s plan, the “Board of Peace” would be created under Trump’s leadership and would first focus on resolving the Gaza conflict. It is said that member countries would be required to pay $1 billion for permanent membership.
So far, invitations have been sent to about 60 countries, but many countries are cautious.
