An 81-year-old woman helped her grandson’s treatment through Minecraft

Sue Jeko, an 81-year-old woman living in California, used modern technology in an unusual way to support her family. She learned the popular game Minecraft from her grandchildren, opened a YouTube channel called GrammaCrackers, and quickly won the affection of internet users. According to Pravila Zhizni, the channel gained more than 100,000 subscribers in just one month.

Sue had never been a gamer or a video blogger before — she used technology only for everyday needs. However, her grandson Jack’s serious illness encouraged her to try new opportunities. Although gaming and streaming initially seemed difficult, she managed to earn income through blogging.

The funds generated by the channel — from monetization, advertising, and voluntary donations from viewers — are being used to cover the medical treatment of 17-year-old Jack. He has completed the initial phase of intensive cancer treatment and is currently undergoing a long rehabilitation process.

Notably, Sue’s interest in Minecraft began thanks to Jack himself: last summer, he taught his grandmother the basics of the game. In addition, the family launched a fundraising campaign on the GoFoundMe platform, which is actively supported by viewers of Sue’s streams.
