In the Ramtek area of Nagpur district in the Indian state of Maharashtra, 103-year-old Gangabai Sakhar was unexpectedly found alive during the funeral preparations. Her relatives thought she had died when they saw her motionless and not breathing.
According to tradition, the woman was dressed in a white saree, cotton was put on her nose, and her hands and feet were tied. However, during the final preparations, one of her relatives noticed that the woman's toes were moving. When the cotton was removed, she took a deep breath and immediately her "mourning" mood turned into "joy" - because she remembered that it was her birthday.
Now, locals call her a "living miracle" and people from neighboring villages are said to be coming to see her.
