Russia plans to nearly double gas supplies to Uzbekistan by 2030

Russia plans to significantly increase gas exports to Uzbekistan by 2030. According to the plans, supplies are expected to rise from the current 5.6 bcm to 12 bcm. This was reported by kursiv.uz reports .
Similar growth is also envisaged for other Central Asian countries: gas shipments to Kazakhstan could increase from 3 bcm to 6–7 bcm per year, and to Kyrgyzstan from 0.5 bcm to 1 bcm.
According to calculations by the Economic Forecasting Center under Gazprombank, by 2030 Russia’s gas exports to Central Asian countries will reach 19–20 bcm per year. This is more than double the 2024 figure.
Experts note that an important part of these plans is linked to Russia’s attempts to offset losses in the European market by expanding in Central Asia. However, supply growth depends on resolving technical and pricing issues.
First of all, the infrastructure of the “Central Asia–Center” gas pipeline needs to be reconstructed. At the same time, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan may compete with each other for access to capacity via this pipeline.
