Russia proposes not extending work patents for migrants with debts

In Russia, a proposal has been put forward to restrict the issuance or extension of work patents for migrants who have court-confirmed debts. The authors of the initiative plan to submit the relevant draft law to parliament after the New Year holidays. This was reported by kursiv.uz. reports .
According to Yaroslav Nilov, head of the State Duma Committee on Labour, Social Policy and Veterans’ Affairs, the measure is seen as an additional incentive to repay debts. He noted that if there is a court ruling and a person is not paying the debt specified in it, this should also be grounds for refusing to issue a patent.
Under the draft, to extend a patent, a foreign citizen would be required to fully settle any debt confirmed by a court decision.
