The novel "O‘tkan kunlar" has been translated into Korean

The novel “O‘tkan kunlar” by Abdullah Qodiriy, the founder of the Uzbek school of romanticism, has been translated into Korean. The translation of the work was carried out by Professor Kim Chung Sun of Kyemyong University.

The process of translating and publishing the book lasted almost 2.5 years. During this time, the translator conducted numerous studies to make the translation of the novel perfect. In particular, in order to convey the novel to Korean readers in a more understandable and interesting way, Professor Kim Chung Sun visited Uzbekistan from March 21 to 31. During the trip, he held a number of meetings at the house-museum of Abdullah Qodiriy and in the cities where the events of the novel took place — Tashkent, Margilan, Kokand, and Fergana. He also exchanged views on the translation process with professors and teachers of the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies.

The South Korean translator also met with the grandson of Abdullah Qodiriy, Khondamir Qodiriy, received a lot of information about the writer and in general about the creation of the work "O‘tkan kunlar", and used them to further enrich the translation.

A solemn ceremony dedicated to the presentation of the book was held in Seoul. The event was attended by representatives of the Parliament and Government of South Korea, ministries and departments, mass media, diplomatic corps, and active compatriots.

Speaking at the event, Uzbekistan's ambassador Alisher Abdusalomov expressed gratitude to the professor of Kyemyong University for his invaluable work and selfless efforts in carrying out this translation. In his speech, the ambassador emphasized that this event is not limited to the translation and presentation of just one book, but has become a vivid symbol of the centuries-old friendship, mutual respect, and shared cultural values between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea. In this sense, it was noted that the presentation ceremony is of particular importance as a significant cultural event that serves to further strengthen the spiritual closeness between the two peoples.

The diplomat also expressed hope that, while reading the work “O‘tkan kunlar,” Korean readers will develop an even deeper and more sincere interest in the history of the Uzbek people, their national spirit, cultural heritage, and modern path of development. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
