Deputy hokim in Andijan caught taking bribe

Misconduct of deputy hokim, heads of statistics and pension fund departments revealed.

The deputy hokim of Khanabad city in Andijan region and the previously convicted head of an LLC engaged in alcoholic beverage sales, colluded to put up 4 hectares of land from the hokimiyat’s reserve for auction as a separate lot for a local entrepreneur to establish a factory producing mattresses, profiled metal sheets, and baby diapers. They were caught with physical evidence while receiving 20,000 US dollars in exchange for officially registering the land in the entrepreneur's name after winning the auction for 2 billion soums.

The former deputy hokim of Andijan district, the head of the city statistics department, and two other individuals, colluding with each other, demanded 600,000 US dollars from an entrepreneur who planned to build a plant for producing children's products, in exchange for securing 6 hectares of land from the "Silk Road" free economic zone via auction. They were caught while receiving 150,000 US dollars in advance.

It was also discovered that a former first deputy head of the Andijan regional department of the Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights, who currently works as the head of a private employment agency, was involved in this illegal activity. It was revealed that he previously received 11,000 US dollars for helping the entrepreneur with the issue.

In Tashkent region, in a recorded incident, the head of the Ohangaron district branch of the Extra-budgetary Pension Fund under the Ministry of Economy and Finance was caught receiving a bribe of 1,500 US dollars for restoring a local citizen’s lost work book and facilitating their retirement due to age, thereby stopping the illegal act.

It should be noted that this official had previously been convicted under Article 167 of the Criminal Code, but did not learn the proper lesson from his past mistake.

At present, criminal cases have been initiated against all the mentioned individuals, and pre-trial detention measures have been applied. Investigative actions are ongoing. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
