Miley Cyrus reveals the secret treatment that helped her overcome stage fright
International pop star and actress Miley Cyrus has opened up about her past fear of performing on stage and how she overcame it with the help of a specialized form of therapy known as EMDR. In a recent interview with The New York Times, she explained how the treatment changed her life.

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a psychological therapy designed to treat trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The method helps the brain process painful memories and reframe them in a safe, controlled way.

Cyrus described her therapy session in detail. According to her, the psychotherapist guided her into a state similar to hypnosis and asked her to imagine herself riding on a train, watching her own life like a movie. During this, she was instructed to visualize the anxiety she felt before performing. “I just want them to really love me,” she responded.

At one point, she imagined herself standing on a mountaintop in Montana, wearing a coat she loved as a child. She saw herself as a little girl, surrounded by comforting figures — her grandmother, her mother, her partner, and her dog who had passed away years ago. “They were all holding hands,” she said, bringing her a sense of calm and security.

Cyrus said the emotional experience helped her release the fear. “That’s how I got through it, and I’ve never been afraid to perform since,” she admitted. She described the EMDR treatment as something that “saved her life.”

Her honest revelation is likely to resonate with many people who struggle with anxiety and fear. Miley’s journey proves that professional help can offer real transformation and healing.
