On July 6, the official awards ceremony of the 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Film Festival took place in Chongqing, China. At this prestigious event, Uzbek actress Ra’no Shodieva won the “Best Actress” award for her emotional performance in the film Chasing Spring.

According to the actress, receiving such a high honor overwhelmed her with emotion.
“I can't find the words to express my joy. At the international SCO film festival, my film and I were awarded. I want to express my deep gratitude to my director Ayub Shahobiddinov for trusting me with this role,” she wrote in her Instagram story.

The film Chasing Spring tells the heartfelt story of an Uzbek woman’s emotional experiences, inner world, and human relationships. The script was written by famous dramatist and author Erkin Azam, and the film was directed by Ayub Shahobiddinov.

Uzbekistan participated actively in the festival. In the main competition, two films represented the country: Grapes by Dilshodbek Usmonov and Chasing Spring by Ayub Shahobiddinov, both vying for the “Golden Camellia” award. Additionally, three more Uzbek films were shown in the non-competition program.

It’s worth noting that the festival jury also included Uzbek documentary filmmaker Furqat Usmonov.

The main competition featured 20 films from 11 countries: Uzbekistan, Russia, China, Iran, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, and Mongolia. Winners were announced in categories such as Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Acting Performance, and ten additional nominations.

Ra’no Shodieva’s victory is a historic moment, not only as a personal success but also as a significant achievement for the Uzbek film industry.
