Main causes of inflation in Uzbekistan in 2025 revealed

By the end of 2025, it became known that the biggest pressure on inflation in Uzbekistan came from rising utility and energy tariffs. According to the National Statistics Committee, in 2025 gas and electricity prices increased far above the planned levels: gas rose by 39.2%, while electricity became 18.8% more expensive.

In December, overall inflation amounted to 0.9%, and annual inflation rose to 7.3%. This was the lowest December figure in the past nine years. For comparison, in January 2025 annual inflation had reached 9.9%.

It was noted that in monthly inflation, food products increased by 1.5%, non-food goods by 0.3%, and services by 0.7%.

The main areas that had a serious impact on society were utilities and energy. In addition to gas and electricity, tariffs for cold water supply and sewerage rose by 35.1%, household waste removal by 32.5%, and liquefied gas by 25%. Hot water also increased by 11.9%, while heating services rose by 11.5%.

Growth was also observed in the fuel market: gasoline became 2.4% more expensive, and propane rose by 1.3%. By the end of 2025, the annual increase in gasoline prices amounted to 11.9%. Airfare prices increased by 2% as well.

Among food items, vegetables saw the sharpest rise in December: cucumber and eggplant prices increased by more than 55%, tomatoes by 25%, and bell peppers and cabbage by more than 22%. Prices for eggs, meat, milk, and oils also went up.

In the services market, mobile communications rose by 5.9%, banking services by 3%, and waste removal services also by 3%.

In December, the highest inflation rate was recorded in Khorezm region at 1.1%. Over the year, prices increased the most in Karakalpakstan and Fergana region (7.7% in both), while the lowest result was observed in Kashkadarya region at 7%.

These inflationary pressures affect living standards, making it increasingly important to maintain stability in the national economy and optimize demand for utility services.
