From whom does a boy's intelligence come - scientific truths

There is a question that concerns many parents: does a son inherit more intelligence from the mother or from the father? Modern genetics and neurobiology have already answered this question quite precisely.
First of all, it should be known that intelligence is not determined by a single gene, it is formed as a result of the combined influence of dozens and even hundreds of genes. Scientific conclusions in this regard are also noted in the work of the National Institutes of Health, one of the largest research centers in the world.
The most discussed aspect is that many genes associated with human intelligence are located on the X chromosome. A boy gets the X chromosome from his mother and the Y chromosome from his father. Therefore, from a genetic point of view, most of the important genes that affect a boy's intelligence are inherited from the mother. Precisely for this reason, in scientific literature and the mass media, there is a widespread opinion that "a boy's mind is inherited from his mother." This conclusion is also confirmed by genetic research published in prestigious scientific publications, including journals within the Nature Portfolio.
However, this does not mean that the role of the father is insignificant. The father also contributes to the child's genetic foundation, especially in characteristics related to nervous system stability, behavior, emotional balance, and temperament.
Most importantly, in a child's life, intelligence is not formed only through innate genes. According to experts, approximately 40-60% of intellectual potential depends on genetic factors, while the rest develops directly through the environment, upbringing, education, and daily living conditions.
In particular, the quality of communication in the family, the parents' conversation with the child, encouragement to ask questions, interest in reading books, and teaching independent thinking determine the true intellectual level of the child. Scientists from the University of Cambridge, who conduct research on education and development, also emphasize that it is the family environment and intellectual stimulation at an early age that have a strong influence on a child's thinking and learning ability.
