Scientists have found a simple solution for chronic back pain

According to the results of a new scientific study conducted by Norwegian and Danish scientists, walking for about 100 minutes daily can reduce the risk of developing chronic back pain by about 25 percent.

One of the study's authors, Ryan Haddadge, rated these results as important, describing walking as a simple, inexpensive, and easily applicable physical activity for everyone. According to him, walking is likely an effective way to prevent chronic back pain.

During the study, the daily motor activity of more than 11 thousand participants over the age of 20 was studied. During 2017-2019, participants wore special accelerometer devices for seven days. Subsequently, in 2021-2023, their health was reassessed, with special attention paid to the presence or absence of back pain.

Participants were divided into four categories based on walking duration: those who walked less than 78 minutes per day, those who walked around 78-100 minutes, those who walked 101-124 minutes, and those who walked more than 125 minutes.

The analysis showed that the more a person walks, the less likely they are to experience chronic back pain. At the same time, it was found that walking at a moderate pace and at a fast pace is more effective in preventing pain compared to slow walking.

According to CNN, more than 600 million people worldwide currently suffer from back pain. According to forecasts of the World Health Organization, by 2050 this figure may reach 843 million people.
