Standards will be updated: Obstacles to entrepreneurship are being removed

On February 12, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on adapting our country's technical regulation system to international standards. These reforms are not only an important step towards joining the World Trade Organization, but also a breath of freedom for local businesses.
Farewell to the old system
As noted at the meeting, half of the more than 33,000 standards currently in place do not meet modern requirements. Now, state control will be abandoned and the principles of market control will be switched to. What does this mean?
- If a defect is found in a product, it is not the entrepreneur's activities that will be restricted, but the circulation of that substandard product.
- By declaring the conformity of the product, the entrepreneur assumes responsibility for quality and safety.
Transition to international standards across sectors
In the coming years, all sectors will gradually begin to operate based on international requirements:
- From July 1, 2026: Textiles, electrical engineering and automotive.
- From 2027: Oil and gas, metallurgy and construction.
- From 2028: Energy and chemical industry.
This year alone, it is planned to adopt almost 4.5 thousand new international standards. This will increase the competitiveness of our local products in the world market.
A check on bureaucracy: The private sector is coming
In order to put an end to excessive costs and corruption in the certification process, testing services will be completely transferred to the private sector. To ensure healthy competition, world-famous giant companies such as Intertek (England), SGS (Sweden) and TÜV (Germany) will be attracted to our country.
Also, the organizations within the Agency will be optimized, and the Accreditation Center will be directly subordinated to the Cabinet of Ministers.
"CUz" - National Quality Mark
In order to increase the prestige of our products in the international market, the "CUz" national conformity mark will be introduced. This mark is expected to become a guarantee of the safety and quality of Uzbek products. Testing laboratories will be fully digitized, minimizing the human factor.
These initiatives of the head of state will relieve entrepreneurs from unnecessary checks and hassles, accelerating the integration of our national economy into the world market.
How do you think the transition to international standards will affect the prices of our local products?
