Which teachers will keep their lifelong qualifications?

Which teachers will keep their lifelong qualifications?
According to the Cabinet of Ministers’ Resolution No. 130 dated February 28, 2025, the procedure for teacher certification has been revised, Ta’lim xabarlari reported.

As of September 1, 2025, the system of granting lifelong qualification categories will be abolished, and all teachers will be required to undergo certification exams every five years.

However, teachers meeting the following criteria before that date will be exempt from mandatory certification and will retain their current qualification or position:

– those who have held the highest qualification (senior teacher) continuously for 15 years;
– those with at least 25 years of teaching experience;
– those with less than five years remaining before retirement;
– those who have reached retirement age and are still teaching.

Teachers who meet any of these conditions will not be required to undergo certification even after September 1.

Those who do not meet these conditions must take mandatory certification every five years, regardless of experience or retirement age.

As per national legislation, legal norms are not retroactive and only apply to situations arising after their effective date.

Additionally, a teacher who meets the criteria before September 1, 2025 — such as completing 25 years of teaching after receiving a qualification — will be granted the status for life once the current term expires.
