On August 19, a tragic event occurred in the Finnish parliament building: a deputy was found dead after committing suicide.
Emergency services received a signal about the incident at 11:06. According to sources from the newspaper, the deceased was a deputy, but his name has not been disclosed yet. The head of the parliamentary security service, Aaro Toivonen, confirmed this information.
The police have started an investigation into the incident. Law enforcement authorities stated that there were no signs of a crime in the death of the deputy. Several police patrols and medical staff are working at the scene.
The head of the "Coalition" party faction, Jukka Kopra, during the ministers' summer meeting, mentioned that he heard about the tragedy from journalists. According to him, it was not known which party the deceased deputy belonged to. He called the incident "disturbing and serious."
Currently, the parliament is on summer vacation, and the autumn session will begin on September 2. Representatives of the organization are calling for an analysis of the parliament's recent activities in light of this tragedy.
