In Uzbekistan, teenagers aged 14 to 18 have been granted the right to independently open bank accounts and obtain bank cards. The Ministry of Justice registered the relevant resolution on November 11.
For children under the age of 14, bank cards can only be issued with the written consent of parents or legal guardians. This regulation also expands the types of bank cards available to customers: business cards for self-employed individuals and sole proprietors, as well as social cards for pensions and other benefits, have been introduced.
Additionally, banks can issue pre-prepared cards, which can be activated via a mobile application after user verification. The new rules also enable companies to pay for drinking water and wastewater services using corporate cards.
