A court verdict has been announced for a horrific crime committed against a 16-year-old girl in the Turkistan region of Kazakhstan. According to the court decision, the 38-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan, found guilty of the crime, was sentenced to life imprisonment.
The court also ordered the accused to pay compensation to the relatives of the deceased for moral damages in the amount of 50 million tenge (about 1 billion 165 million soums). Although the suspect did not fully admit his guilt during the trial, the evidence presented by the investigation was deemed sufficient and reliable.
The tragedy occurred on the night of June 6. A 16-year-old schoolboy went missing on his way home from a store. When the girl did not return home, her relatives and residents of the mahalla, together with law enforcement agencies, searched for her all night. In the morning, the girl's body was found along the road near the kindergarten.
According to the court verdict, the accused was found guilty under the articles of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan on murder, rape, and acts of sexual violence. The court assessed this crime as extremely grave and extremely dangerous to society.
