Russian coach Sergey Kiryakov assessed how 2025 went for the Russia national team. This was reported by euro-football.rureports.
According to the expert, last year the national team looked confident against its opponents, but the level of the matches was not enough to draw serious conclusions.
In a comment to RB Sport, Kiryakov noted that Russia played well against its opponents, but those opponents were nowhere near the level of Europe’s leading national teams. He said the last two matches clearly demonstrated this as well.
The coach also added that expectations of a near-term return to the international stage look overly optimistic. In his view, there is a high chance that the Russia national team will remain out of official tournaments for several more years.
