What parking changes are proposed in Tashkent’s design code

Parking in Tashkent’s design code'yicha qanday yangiliklar taklif qilinmoqda

Proposals on parking in Tashkent have been included in the capital’s design code draft. The document was posted on regulation.gov.uz for public discussion. This was reported by kursiv.uzreports.

Under the draft, curbside parking along the carriageway is expected to be allowed on streets in central and outlying areas where traffic flow is relatively low. This requirement will also apply to transport interchange (peregon) hubs. In this case, the parking area and the pedestrian zone must be clearly separated.

Restrictions on placing parking facilities are planned for streets with very heavy traffic, pedestrian streets, and city squares.

In neighborhoods (mahallas), small local “parking pockets” will be permitted. In areas dominated by Soviet-era and modern developments, centralized large parking lots are recommended.

Parking near markets, cultural venues, and recreation areas will be designed based on the estimated number of visitors. Dedicated spaces for people with disabilities and pedestrian-friendly solutions will be mandatory.

In recreational zones, it is proposed to move parking outside the area. Also, as a priority, the development of “park-and-ride” (intercept) lots is envisaged—parking zones where drivers can leave their cars and switch to public transport.
