Samarkand airport serves 1.5 million passengers for the first time

On December 26, the number of passengers handled via Samarkand International Airport reached 1.5 million. By the end of 2025, this figure became the highest result in the airport’s history, Air Marakanda’s press service told Kursiv Uzbekistan. This was reported by kursiv.uz.

The 1.5 millionth passenger was recorded as Muhabbat Shodieva, a resident of Oqdaryo district in Samarkand region. She flew on Pobeda Airlines’ Samarkand–Moscow route. As part of the award ceremony, gifts from Pobeda and Air Marakanda were also raffled among passengers on the flight.

Since late October, the airport has switched to the autumn-winter flight season. During this year’s spring-summer period, the air hub served more than 900,000 passengers, with annual growth of 7%.

Last season, Samarkand airport’s route network also expanded: Ural Airlines launched flights to Krasnoyarsk, while Azimuth Airlines started services to Samara and Krasnodar. Direct flights by AZAL to Baku, Qazaq Air to Astana (via Turkistan), and China Southern Airlines to Urumqi were also resumed.
