Uzbekistan’s waste collection debt exceeds 622 billion soums

In 2025, unpaid debts for household waste collection services in Uzbekistan reached 622.7 billion soums. This was reported by Dilnoza Kamilova, press secretary of the Waste Management Agency.

According to her, last year the “Toza makon” system covered 87% of mahallas, and 23.9 million people used the services. Subscribers paid 90% of the billed charges — a total of 1.3 trillion soums.

Private investment in the sanitation and cleaning sector totaled 386.5 billion soums. Throughout 2025, companies purchased specialized vehicles, waste containers, as well as sorting and recycling equipment.

The efficiency of sanitation service companies was assessed at 55.5%: 30 organizations were classified as “green,” 57 as “yellow,” and 28 as “red.”
