In recent days, various reports have circulated about the health of religious scholar A. Tursunov (Mubashshir Ahmad), who is serving his sentence at Penal Colony No. 5 located in Qiziltepa district of Navoi region. As this raised public questions, the matter was officially reviewed.
Based on this information, the regional representative in Navoi region of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) visited the colony, carrying out a monitoring visit. During the visit, the health condition and detention conditions of inmate A.T. (Mubashshir Ahmad) serving his sentence at the facility were carefully examined.
As part of the monitoring, inmates, including A.T., in private were interviewed. Medical records related to his health were also reviewed.
During the conversation, A.T. stated that regarding the provision of medical care at the facility, he has no complaints. According to him, he regularly undergoes a full medical examination . At the same time, he noted that due to pre-existing illnesses, certain changes have been observed in his health, but he is receiving appropriate medical assistance.
The inmate also said that at his own request he has been assigned to work (kitchen duties). He emphasized that outside the times set by law he is not required to do overtime work, and that working conditions comply with occupational safety rules.
No complaints were made about food provision or living conditions either. According to A.T., taking his health into account, he is provided food according to the prescribed standard.
In the private interview with the inmate, he did not raise any issues.
It should be noted that the Ombudsman’s regional representative in Navoi region conducted monitoring visits to this facility in November and December 2025 as well, and it was recorded then that no appeals were received from inmate A.T.
In short, following the reports, the situation was checked on site, a direct conversation was held with the inmate, and documents were reviewed. What matters most is that in such cases, the basis should be official monitoring and transparent inspection results—not rumors.
