In Tashkent, suspects detained for extorting money from route taxi drivers

In Tashkent’s Yashnobod district, оператив measures were taken against individuals who had been demanding money from route taxi drivers. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the suspects were detained. This was reported by Kursiv.uz. reports .
It is noted that the group was led by 37-year-old Sherzod Alimqulov (nickname “Bychok”). He had previously been convicted three times.
The suspects intimidated drivers and tried to halt operations on certain routes. In one case, they allegedly beat the owner of a Damas and seized the vehicle.
It was also reported that a driver who informed law enforcement about the situation was pressured and threatened with physical violence.
The MIA urged victims to contact law enforcement agencies or call 102. The identity of those who report is guaranteed to remain confidential.
