The Secret to Success in E-commerce: The BirBir Experience

The BirBir classified ads platform, launched in September last year, has quickly established its place in the e-commerce market of Uzbekistan. Within one year, the platform succeeded in entering the top ten most downloaded apps for Android.

Andrey Tereshin, the startup's CEO and one of its founders, shared his thoughts on last year's results, the peculiarities of the e-commerce market, and future plans. The BirBir platform has introduced a new approach aimed at developing e-commerce in Uzbekistan.

During market analysis, the company team examined the possibilities for developing classifieds platforms in the country and identified several important differences. While e-commerce is more developed in Tashkent, there is still significant potential in the regions.

It was precisely these factors that became the basis for creating an opportunity for the platform to be used throughout the whole country. In recent years, Uzbekistan's economy has doubled, surpassing $100 billion.

International investors see the country as a promising market and are ready to support local platforms. The BirBir team entered the market at this very time, taking on the challenge of creating a platform that could expand both domestically and internationally.

The main goal of the platform is to offer a single universal platform for various needs. To shape user habits, the platform began with the market of everyday goods—clothing, household appliances, and home accessories.

Later, the focus shifted to high-income segments such as cars, real estate, and services. One of the initial challenges for the team was building a qualified staff.

Within the project, special attention was paid to maintaining a balance between local specialists and foreign experts. In addition, the platform aimed to automate analytics and implement a data-driven decision-making process.

Over the course of a year, the platform has significantly increased product indicators such as the number of monthly active users (MAU), daily users (DAU), and customer retention rate (CRR). At the same time, special attention was given to boosting mutual trust among users and adapting existing sales practices to the digital environment.

BirBir platform offers services such as secure transactions, product delivery, and seller verification. In particular, the secure transaction system helps increase trust between the seller and buyer.

The primary goal of the platform is to become a part of users' daily life. In Uzbekistan, the classifieds platform market is still at an early stage, and much attention is being paid to shaping user habits.

The platform continues to develop the secondary market, offering convenient and safe tools that fit users' lifestyles.
