
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of France Emmanuel Macron held talks at the Elysee Palace.
The heads of state discussed in detail the issues of further developing and strengthening multifaceted Uzbek-French relations face to face and with the participation of delegations.
It was noted with satisfaction that the agreements reached during the meeting of the leaders of the two countries in Samarkand in November 2023 are being implemented.
Active dialogues continue at various levels. Last year, the volume of trade turnover exceeded 1 billion euros for the first time, and the number of joint ventures increased 4 times.

Leading French companies such as Orano, EDF, Total, SUEZ, Voltalia, Veolia and many others are successfully operating in our country. Cooperation with the French Development Agency has acquired a new quality, with which a new Cooperation Program is being adopted.
As part of the preparation for the visit, the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and the MEDEF business mission were held effectively, and the Chamber of Entrepreneurs began its work.
These days, joint events are being held in the cities of Paris, Toulouse, Lyon and Nice with the active participation of the regions. The day before yesterday, a joint medical forum and a conference on science and education, as well as presentations dedicated to the tourism potential and culture of Uzbekistan, were held. A bust of the great scholar Abu Rayhan Beruni was unveiled in the city of Graetz-Armenville.
Priority was given to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in the trade, economic, investment and financial spheres, promoting cooperation projects with leading French companies and enterprises.
A new Innovation and Industrial Partnership Program has been prepared for this summit. It is planned to promote joint projects worth a total of 6.5 billion euros in the extraction and processing of important mineral raw materials, energy, infrastructure development, transport and other sectors.
In general, the portfolio of joint projects exceeds 12 billion euros.
In this regard, the importance of expanding financial support was emphasized.
In order to promote long-term cooperation relations, the Head of State proposed establishing an Uzbekistan-France Investment Council and holding its first meeting in June this year within the framework of the Tashkent Investment Forum.
In order to promote interregional ties, it was agreed to hold the first forum of the regions of the two countries in Samarkand next year.
The leaders paid special attention to expanding practical cooperation in the humanitarian direction. Plans were supported to organize an exhibition of avant-garde works from the collection of the Savitsky Museum in Paris, to open a representative office of the French Heritage Institute in our country for cooperation in the preservation and restoration of cultural monuments.

It was noted that the opening of the Uzbek-French University in Tashkent this year, attracting experienced specialists from France, was a major agreement in the field of education. Effective cooperation will also continue in the field of training French language teachers.
In order to intensify business, tourism and cultural exchanges, the parties will consider increasing the number of direct flights.
The heads of state also exchanged views on pressing issues of international and regional importance. It was emphasized that it is important to continue supporting each other within multilateral organizations, to join forces in combating terrorism, extremism, radicalism, cybercrime and other modern threats to security.
In order to establish a systematic dialogue and coordination, it was agreed to establish a Strategic Planning Group with the involvement of economic departments under the leadership of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs.
As a result of the negotiations, the heads of state came to a historic decision to establish strategic partnership relations between the two countries.
At the end of the meeting, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited President Emmanuel Macron to pay a return visit to Uzbekistan at a time convenient for him.
