Uzbek boxers shine with victories in Thailand ring

From July 30 to August 12, the Asian Boxing Championship for youth and U22 athletes is being held in Bangkok, Thailand. This prestigious tournament has brought together talented boxers from across the continent, including Uzbekistan’s young athletes who are actively competing.

Today, seven boxers from Uzbekistan stepped into the ring, with most securing confident victories in their respective weight categories.

• In the -48 kg category, Maftuna Musurmonova convincingly defeated Alanud Alghamdi from Saudi Arabia with a 5:0 score, giving the team a strong start.

• In the -54 kg bout, Muslima Turgunova narrowly lost to Kazakhstan’s Janel Imantaeva — 2:3 by judges' decision.

• At -57 kg, Robiya Ravshanova overcame Yubeen Seo from South Korea with a 3:2 victory.

• In the -50 kg match, Odilshokh Halimov defeated Akash Badwar from India — 4:1.

• In the -75 kg division, Muhammadjon Yakubboev dominated Amirmahdi Sabzi from Iran with a clean 5:0 win.

• In the -80 kg fight, Norbek Abdullayev edged out India’s Lokesh — 3:2.

• In the +80 kg category, Islam Salikhov lost on points to Beksultan Kairatuly of Kazakhstan.

This championship serves as a key platform for young boxers to gain international experience, sharpen their skills, and prepare for future major competitions. Uzbek fans are showing great support and have high hopes for their national team.
