One of European football’s top clubs — Manchester City’s CEO Ferran Soriano — spoke about striker Erling Haaland’s unique character and compared him with Cristiano Ronaldo. According to Soriano, there’s a huge difference in modern strikers’ personal motivation and attitude toward the team.
“If Cristiano Ronaldo’s teammate scores, he doesn’t really celebrate it. Because Cristiano wants to score himself, his professionalism and mindset are based on competition. That doesn’t mean he’s a bad person. It’s just his mentality,” Soriano explained.
“Erling is different. He also scores a lot, but when his teammates find the net, that also brings him great joy. He sincerely celebrates his teammates’ goals. This way, Erling strengthens the team spirit even more,” the City director added.
Indeed, in three years with Manchester City, the Norwegian forward has played 146 official games, scored 124 goals, and made 21 assists. According to Transfermarkt, Haaland’s market value is €180 million.
