An important step has been taken in Uzbekistan’s legislative system aimed at further modernizing the road infrastructure, reports the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis. At a session of the Legislative Chamber, the bill “On Automobile Roads” was conceptually reviewed and adopted by deputies in the first reading.
The new bill introduces a mechanism for “planning automobile roads,” which envisages the development of road infrastructure in line with the growth rates of the population and economy. During the design process, special attention is paid to public opinion and environmental impact issues. Additionally, new requirements are being established to create a barrier-free environment for pedestrians and to ensure the stability of roads.
According to the bill, expenses for restoring roads to their previous state during the construction of communication networks will be compensated. Specific requirements are being introduced for regulating the movement of large and heavy vehicles on the roads, as well as for the placement of service facilities.
Another important aspect of the project is the formation of a toll road network and the provision of benefits to investors in this area. This will create opportunities for attracting broad direct foreign investment for the construction of new roads and for maintaining the existing network in working order.
According to experts, this bill will be an important step towards improving state governance in the sector, enhancing the quality of roads, and ensuring the long-term effective operation of transport infrastructure. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
