Uzbekistan has introduced a new rule regarding tuition payments at higher education institutions. According to the State Tax Committee, parents will now receive tax benefits on tuition payments regardless of their child’s age. This reform is expected to ease the financial burden of thousands of families.
Previously, the tax exemption mostly applied to students or spouses under the age of 26. Under the new amendment, however, age restrictions are removed, and parents can enjoy the tax benefit whenever they pay tuition fees for their children.
According to the Tax Code, payments made from citizens’ salaries or other income toward tuition fees at universities or professional colleges are fully exempt from personal income tax. The benefit applies to the student, the parents, as well as a spouse under the age of 26.
Officials emphasized that this change is designed to support families, improve access to education, and encourage more young people to pursue higher studies.
