News spread that a group of Uzbek pilgrims who went to perform Umrah in Saudi Arabia were in a difficult situation. A citizen of our country, D.I., filed a complaint with the Consulate General. According to him, the pilgrims were unable to return to Uzbekistan at the scheduled time, fell into an absurd situation, and were forced to ask for practical assistance.
According to the information provided to the pilgrims, they were supposed to fly from Medina on September 15, 2025, and return to their homeland. However, the travel agency that entered into a contract with them did not notify in advance about the problems with airline tickets. The firm's employees are limited to the vague information that "they may leave in the coming days." This situation caused great concern, especially among the elderly and women, who constituted the majority of pilgrims.
The staff of the Consulate General immediately took appropriate measures and held negotiations with the officials of the travel agency. They were strictly required to ensure the safety of pilgrims and resolve the issue of their prompt return to Uzbekistan.
Representatives of the firm explained that tickets were not purchased on time due to certain technical and organizational problems with their partner airlines. Following this, the Consulate General instructed the company to provide temporary accommodation for pilgrims and purchase new airline tickets.
As a result, all pilgrims were accommodated at the "Samaa Al-Misk Hotel" in Mecca. Through subsequent negotiations, the firm purchased new tickets for them.
On September 17, 2025, pilgrims departed for Uzbekistan on a Fly Khiva flight from Medina to Tashkent. The Consulate General kept the entire process under full control and ensured the safe return of our citizens to the Homeland.
