Uzbekistan is introducing a new digital control system for product circulation. Its main goal is to ensure transparency in the circulation of high-liquidity goods and to prevent the sale of expired or unregistered products.
According to reports, starting from March 1, 2026, the digital marking system will come into full effect. Under the new regulations, the sale of expired or improperly marked goods will be automatically prohibited.
Mandatory digital labeling will apply to the following categories:
alcoholic and tobacco products;
beer products;
household appliances;
medicines and medical devices;
water and soft drinks.
The new system will operate through the automated information system “Asl belgisi.” Manufacturers or importers will enter product data into the database, after which a digital Data Matrix code will be applied.
During the sale, the product is verified using a 2D scanner. If the product’s expiration date has passed, the system will automatically block the transaction and the sale will stop. This will ensure that expired products are removed not only from the electronic system but also from store shelves.
Experts note that digital marking will help reduce counterfeit products and increase transparency in the pharmaceutical and beverage markets.
The new regulation will increase producer accountability and ensure consumer safety. From 2026 onward, “digital labels” will mark a new era in product circulation.
