
Uzbekistan Plans to Open New Consulates in the United States. This was outlined in a decree by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev regarding the establishment of the American-Uzbekistan Business Council.
The new diplomatic offices will recruit specialists to work with key sectors of the U.S. Additionally, the number of members in the Uzbek diaspora will be considered when determining the locations.
The consulates are expected to open in Chicago, Orlando, and Seattle. One of the main tasks of the consulates in the U.S. will be to establish effective collaboration with the diaspora of Uzbek nationals residing across different states.
According to preliminary data, as of 2023, the number of Uzbeks living in the United States is estimated at 75,000. The State Statistics Committee reports that more than 12,900 Uzbek citizens visited the U.S. during the period from January to September of the current year.
This figure represents an increase of 9.3% compared to the previous year. Most Uzbeks traveled to the U.S. as tourists—9,200 individuals.
Additionally, 3,100 people visited relatives, while 304 Uzbek nationals traveled for educational purposes. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
