Public hearings on the nuclear power plant (NPP) construction project in the Jizzakh region will be held on December 23, 2025. This was reported by Uzatom.
The event will take place in the Bogdon village of the Forish district. The planned NPP is projected to have a total capacity of 2,100 megawatts.
This will cover 15 percent of Uzbekistan's electricity demand. The project's main contractor will be Atomstroyexport JSC, a subsidiary of the Russian state corporation Rosatom.
The project envisions the use of modern and safe reactors. It is expected that 13,000 jobs will be created during the construction phase.
